Films at Bloomsday Film Festival 2023

Still from Matthew Thompson's film of Darrel Alejandro Holnes' poem "ba•by"

We are delighted to share the news that two of our poem films have been accepted into this year's Bloomsday Film Festival, happening in Dublin from June 12th through 16th.

Each year, Dublin celebrates June 16th, the anniversary of Leopold Bloom's famed day-about-town in James Joyce's Ulysses, with an explosion of cultural performances and happenings. Now in its fourth year, the Bloomsday Film Festival gathers a range of cinematic offerings as part of the broader Bloomsday Festival, showcasing literary, avant-garde, and Dublin-focused films in the great Irish writer's honor.

This year, two of Matthew Thompson's films have been selected to be screened in the Poetry and Literature program on June 13th, marking W. B. Yeats' birthday. Darrel Alejandro Holnes' reading of his poem "ba•by" and Marie Howe's reading of her poem "Singularity" will both appear.

We thank the Bloomsday Film Festival for their recognition of our work, and we look forward to their iconic Bloomsday celebration!
