Disordered and abstruse,
The winter wood includes
Unrelated clumps of rose,
Chunks of isolated quotes
From last year's crop of willows,
Ash, and oak, random dots
Of compost, root, and pine
That lack all sense of what
Their critics call design:
They won't produce a forest, but
Possibly a vine.
