Open window, bring to me
The lapping of the patient sea,
The molten drifting sky that calms
The reefs with waving palms;

Let the winds come flooding in
The lifting evening curtains
With their endless hopeful rush
Before the sunset’s lenient hush:

Ancient, rotten shipwrecks broken
In the racing crush of ocean,
As the waves of evening scroll
Across the longing in their roll.
