Dance Of Bug And Bee

By Peter Halstead

Along Colorado I-70

Bounce above the windshield glass
Above the concrete grease and grass

Blur and fester in the waves
Surf above what passion paves

Twirl of sky and fumes and heat
Smell of cow and cars and wheat

Blister sun and pucker tar
Where the asphalt flowers are

Bliss of speed and summer sound
Rushing wildly with the ground

Whirl of wheels and world and air
Girls with colors in their hair

Faster faster barcarolle
They hate us for our rock and roll

Feint on asphalt fall and prance
End of song and skip and dance.
