Honeymoon I

Naptha, aloe, acetate,
Palm kernel, Lanolin,
Oil of cocoa, sin, and heartbreak
Waft across your buttered skin;

Blender whirl and drum machines,
Turbo jet and Evinrude
Sounds and smells of postcard scenes
Our summer loves extrude:

Gardenia laced with diesel fume
And, faintly on the distant reef,
The tiny roar of wedding room
Channeling the mango grief

Hidden in the buffet lunch
By the barbecue’s rum punch.
