to Cath

I was in the habit
Of stopping for the view;
And now I have it
Because I stopped for you:

A fulcrum only sees
As much as what it saws,
As the hope of rising seas
Is dependent on its loss;

So to and fro
Our world seesaws;
We come and go
In retrospect because

We share its orbits;
Our forces pause
Because the planets
Shape our domestic laws,

Their teeter-totter frame
Balancing our magnetic sum,
Where we long ago became
What we’ve today become.
