Time is gales and death and sand
Breath in air and squalls on land
Pain of dawn where sight is wind
Song of night where fogs descend

Plague and rain where nightmares mist
Sail and sea where sailors list
Holes and swirls where tide is lost
Rips and shears where breakers cross

Swash of love and seiche of hate
Clouds too quick and sun too late
Time is cyclone and monsoon
Dead of midnight come too soon

End of ripples on a beach
End of evening’s endless reach
Set of dreams on amber bay
And all the island in the day.
