The trades roll in to Maui,
reflected on the endless waves
of torch-lit condo architraves,
cubist paintings where the sea
and pool and restaurant scene
crowd around the coral walls
suspended by the flash of green
like minarets whose evening calls
Bounce off panes as sunsets
Light the dunes,
murky tropic silhouettes
and songs from wedding runes
that echo down the seaside,
Scores to forgotten moons
that spray the empty mirror of the of tide
with the Muzak of the daylight’s ruins
and populate the nuptial room
with the dark celestial ride
of the star-struck bride and groom
through the night sky’s cosmic tune.
