Bloomsday Film Festival showcase

“I always write about Dublin, because if I can get to the heart of Dublin, I can get to the heart of all the cities of the world. In the particular is contained the universal.” — James Joyce
Over the past three years, we have collaborated with the Bloomsday Film Festival to produce poetry films inspired by the works of Joyce and by Dublin, his “Universal City.”
Join us on Friday, June 13th, at 7pm for a screening and talk featuring four new co-produced films with performances by Olwen Fouéré, Éanna Hardwicke, and Stephen James Smith. The event will feature a talk by director Matthew Thompson, Q&As with performers, poets, and filmmakers, and a live poetry performance by Stephen James Smith, presented by series producer and Bloomsday Film Festival director Tommy Creagh. The films will run as follows:
- "Cities Unlimited" by Stephen James Smith, read by Leah Minto (dir. Luke De Brún)
- "Chamber Music, XXXIV & XXXV" by James Joyce, read by Olwen Fouéré (dir. Matthew Thompson)
- "Train to Dublin" by Louis MacNeice, read by Éanna Hardwicke (dir. Matthew Thompson)
- "from Anna Liffey" by Eavan Boland, read by Olwen Fouéré (dir. Matthew Thompson)
