Film showcase at the 2026 Bloomsday Film Festival

We're pleased to be participating in this year's Bloomsday Film Festival, taking place in Dublin from June 11th to 16th. Join us on June 13th at 7 pm for a showcase, reading, and talk highlighting poetry films inspired by Joyce's conception of Dublin as "Universal City."

We'll be premiering new films performed by actor Kwaku Fortune and poet Rafael Mendes, as well as screening a previous film performed by Stephen James Smith.

The event will feature a talk and Q&A with director Matthew Thompson and live poetry performances from Stephen James Smith and Rafael Mendes. Our Executive Director, Amy Holmes, will introduce the evening, which will be presented by series producer and Bloomsday Film Festival director Tommy Creagh.

Film lineup:
"Arrive (verb)" by Rafael Mendes, directed by Matthew Thompson
"Devotion: 4. Impromptu Evening" by Mícháel McCann, read by Kwaku Fortune, directed by Matthew Thompson
"Herself and Himself" by Brendan Kennelly, read by Rafael Mendes, directed by Matthew Thompson
