Common Sense

By Peter Halstead
Read by Mark di Suvero

Bent on finding pattern
In the airholes melted
Through the snow by water
Or topography, random wells

That seem to open
More by style than plan,
As if a stream might care
For something more than air,

A less specific gravity
Might imply that every
River wants the sky.
