Wedding II

By Peter Halstead

for Liza and Alexis, July 1996

What happens when two things coincide?
The answer is a groom and bride.
And the opposite of divide?
It's just the same, a groom and bride.
When one and one makes one, assume
It is the bride and groom.

But when one and one are multiplied
You get a baby groom or baby bride.
So it’s easy here to see
How sometimes one and one makes three.
But until one and one commingle
Both remain completely single.
