Leslie Sainz

(1992 - Present)

The daughter of Cuban exiles, Leslie Sainz was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She holds degrees in creative writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Carnegie Mellon University.

Sainz is the author of Have You Been Long Enough at Table (Tin House, 2023). She has received scholarships, fellowships, and honors from the National Endowment for the Arts, CantoMundo, the Miami Writers Institute, the Adroit Journal, and the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts at Bucknell University, where she was a 2018–2019 Stadler Fellow.

Her poems have appeared in the Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day, the Yale Review, Kenyon Review, American Poetry Review, Narrative, AGNI, and elsewhere. She lives in Vermont where she works as the managing editor of New England Review.
