Tim Saunders

(1952 - Present)

Cornish-language poet and journalist Tim Saunders was born in St. Tudy, Cornwall.

Saunders’ bilingual published works include Termynyow a Dheu / Coming Times: Poems in Cornish, The High Tide: Collected Poems in Cornish 1974–1999, and Virgil’s Fountain / Fenten Feryl, all with Francis Boutle Publishers. He edited The Wheel: An Anthology of Modern Poetry in Cornish 1850–1980 and Nothing Broken: Recent Poetry in Cornish and was co-editor of Looking at the Mermaid: A Reader in Cornish Literature 900–1900. He is also the author of multiple Cornish-language works with Y Lolfa, Gomer Press, Gwinlann, and Spyrys a Gernow. In addition to Cornish, he writes in Breton, English, Irish, and Welsh.

Saunders is a Bard of Gorseth Kernow, going by the bardic name Bardh Gwerin (Poet of the People). He has three children, two of whom are musicians. He lives in Cardiff.
