The Ocean In The Sky

By Peter Halstead

The Eddie is no go today,
But surf still rises nonetheless,
Massive riptides shooting spray
In jets that rise and dress

The world in pools of haze,
Rainbowing the beach, as squall
Light does on summer days,
When the curling waves that fall

On one another seem to be
Disposed at certain times to dare
The heights their white-capped destiny,
Rising through the world to air.
